Teepee

I saw a teepee today
of all things
right here in Hawaii
A slender banana
fledgling grew
or tried to grow beside it
deciding if it was worth
all the trouble to wait
for the inconsistent sunshine
so often shrouded by the
valley's mist
A teepee of all things
stopped me short in my
meanderings
didn't expect me, did you?
life's wonderful that way
don't expect anything
and you get it all
teepees too
